Wind advisory in effect from noon through rest of Friday

Strong gusty winds will buffet the mountains and deserts of San Diego County today, forecasters said.

A wind advisory will be in effect in mountain and desert regions from noon through the rest of the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will be strongest late this afternoon and into this evening, with gusts of up to 50 mph, according to NWS forecasters.

The windy conditions result from a trough of low pressure moving inland through the Pacific Northwest and Northern California.

“The winds will make driving difficult, especially for motorists with high-profile vehicles,” warned the agency, which issues a wind advisory when winds of 35 mph or greater are expected. “`Watch for broken tree limbs and downed power lines.”

Temperatures in the area are expected to range from 59 to 64 degrees today, with temperatures 52 to 62 in the mountains and 72 to 77 in the deserts. Once the fog lifts, it should be mostly sunny throughout the county.
