Mark Andrew Jones, 52, of Ramona, was killed when he was ejected from a vehicle that rolled over several times on Ashley Road at 3:18 p.m. on Sunday, according to the San Diego County medical examiner’s report.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, the report stated.

Jones had been a passenger in the rear seat of a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda driven by Harold Green, 49, of Ramona, said CHP Officer Brian Pennings.

Green was driving southbound on Ashley Road from Telford Lane “at a high rate of speed,“ Pennings reported.

The CHP officer said it appears Green made an unsafe turning movement, causing the vehicle to go off the east side of Ashley Road, first striking a street advisory sign and then a retaining wall.

“The impact on the wall caused the vehicle to roll over,” he said.

Jones who was reportedly unrestrained in the back seat, was ejected from the vehicle.

Green suffered a possible spinal injury and Mike McCormack, 55, of Vista, who was sitting in the right front passenger seat, had a possible fracture to his right arm, said Pennings. They were transported to Palomar Medical Center by Cal Fire/Ramona Fire Department paramedics.

Evidence indicates alchol possibly played a role in the crash and Green could could face felony DUI charges, said Pennings.
