A change in the construction schedule will permit state Route 78 between Indian Oaks Road and Weekend Villa Road between Ramona and Escondido to remain open Thursday through Sunday, according to California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

This stretch of highway is about one mile and will be closed again next Monday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to allow crews to work on stabilizing a rock slope in the area.

The project started Oct. 27. Since then SR-78 has been closed between Indiao Oaks and Weekend Villa roads Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Caltrans) stated that

Due to the nature of this safety project, the work can only be done during daylight hours and may require extra days, depending on weather and other construction-related activities, said Hayden Manning with Caltrans.

The detour requires motorists to allow extra time for out-of-direction travel during the closure.

Caltrans recommends that westbound motorists from Ramona and Julian take southbound SR-67 to westbound Scripps Poway Parkway and then to Interstate 15 (I-15). Eastbound motorists are advised to take I-15 to eastbound Scripps Poway Parkway and then northbound SR-67 to SR-78.
