Improvements made since the 2007 wildfires are among topics that will be discussed at the Wildfire Evacuation Community Forum the sheriff’s Ramona Substation will hold in Ramona Library at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16.
A quick-moving brush fire that threatened homes in Santee on May 3 is a reminder that fire season is here, a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department representative said, and the department wants everyone to be ready.
Sheriff’s Lt. Julie Sutton will discuss enhancements on the reverse 911 system and how evacuation notices can now go out to a specific area at the forum. Attendees can also learn about the county’s Emergency Management System, or EMS, so they can be better prepared in case of a wildfire.
Questions may be emailed to email@example.com so they can be answered at the forum. For more wildfire preparedness tips, visit 1.usa.gov/lrA1zy.
Also scheduled to answer questions at the public forum are: County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, San Diego Country Estates Association, U.S. Forestry, Ramona Municipal Water District, CalFire, Ramona Unified School District, California Highway Patrol, Ramona Chamber of Commerce, American Red Cross, Community Emergency Response Team, County Animal Control, and Office of Emergency Services (OES).
