Ramona residents are invited to participate in a free community chipping day on Saturday, July 9.
Hosted by the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County and the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County in cooperation with Ramona Disposal and the Ramona West End Fire Safe Council, free chipping will be provided from 8 a.m. to noon.
Residents who bring tree and brush trimmings to Ramona Disposal at 324 Maple Street will have their brush chipped by professional crews. On-site registration with proof of residence is required.
Residents are responsible for hauling their own brush and trimmed material to the site. Materials will only be accepted on the day of the event.
Please keep material free of mud, rocks, construction wood and other debris. No palm material will be accepted.
Officials recommend that residents check with their local fire jurisdiction for specific fuel reduction guidelines for vegetation management on their property.
Anyone wishing more information about guidelines and general information may contact Tina Burnett, fuel reduction coordinator with the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County, at email@example.com or 619-749-4232, or visit www.firesafesdcounty.org.
The no-cost chipping service is administered by the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County. Funding is provided by San Diego Regional Disaster Fund through the San Diego Foundation.
