San Diego County Library News: A yearlong donation campaign, SDCL’s Most Wanted, is asking customers to donate a new copy of the Book of the Month or one of the Top Ten Most Wanted books. The book of the month for July is “Smokin Seventeen” by Janet Evanovich.

Another part of this campaign is the matching funds program that was just re-approved by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. When a customer requests their donation go to this program, their funds will be matched by the county for up to $200,000. For more information on these programs please ask the library staff.

Summer Reading Club: The theme is “One World, Many Stories.” Reading logs and prizes are available for all ages; sign-up required. This programs runs through Aug. 7.

YOUTH

Preschool Storytime: Bring your preschooler to enjoy a fun story on every Wednesday at 11 a.m. After storytime, join your child in making crafts at 11:30 a.m.

Toddler Storytime: Stories are read from a selection of favorite children’s books on every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

TEENS

Chess Club: Meets on Tuesdays, at 3:30 p.m.

Song Writing: Well-known musician Mary Dolan will help teens write a song (Wow!) and record it (Double Wow!). Each participant will get a copy on a CD. Tuesday, July 26, at 5 p.m.

Girl Scouts: Scouts help with library projects on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m.

Teen Video Game Arcade: (Grades 6-12) Bring your friends and try some of the popular games on gaming consoles. Make it a challenge by keeping track of the highest scorer from each session. Saturday, July 23, at 1 p.m.

FAMILIES

Pajama Storytime: Enjoy family storytime on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Dance Around the World: Enjoy the wonders and amazement of dance from all over the globe with Nikola Clay on Thursday, July 21, at 1 p.m.

Yoga: Bring your mat on Fridays at 11 a.m. All ages welcome.

Family Crafts: Participate in arts and crafts projects you get to take home, every Friday at 3 p.m. All ages welcome.

ADULTS

Adult Book Club: “The Doll’s House” by Henrik Ibsen will be discussed on Monday, July 25, at 1 p.m.

National Latino Research Center: Group meeting on Mondays at 5 p.m.

Tai Chi: Instructor-led Tai Chi classes for adults in the Auerbach Community Room on Thursdays at 9 a.m.

For Health Awareness: Jeanette Cruz, RN and acupuncturist, will present a lecture and demonstration. Librarian Ellie Slade will demonstrate preparation of Oriental food with tastings on Thursday, July 21, at 6 p.m.

Bilingual Spanish Computer Helpers: Instruction for beginners on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Call 760-788-5270 for appointment.

Adult Fine Art Lesson: California Dreaming watercolor instruction with artist Margo Smart. Adults will create California sunsets. All supplies included on Friday, July 22, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Computer Helpers: Instructions for beginners on Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. Call 760-788-5270 for an appointment.

GENERAL

Friends Bookstore: Located in the Library Lobby nearest to the front doors of Main Street. Bookstore Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thank you to everyone who has brought donations of books, CDs, videos, magazines and other items into the Friends Bookstore. The Friendly Waves Newsletter can be picked up in the bookstore or it can be emailed to members.

Ramona Community Library is at 1275 Main Street, with the parking in the rear. It opens at 9:30 a.m. Mondays through Saturdays and closes Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays at 5 p.m.
