It was standing-room only when Amazing Dana The Magician presented his tricks in the Auerbach Family Community Room at Ramona Library. Most of the children sat on the floor as close to the stage as they could, eager to be selected as one of Amazing Dana’s assistants during the interactive show.

Amazing Dana of El Cajon is also known as Dana Law. His show is one of several sponsored by Friends of Ramona Library at the library this summer.

One by one the magician invited children to assist him with his magic acts. Kendall Weatherhead was “hypnotized” and seemingly left floating on air. Charlie Dinero got to flex his muscles before one act left him wondering if a vase was ever going to run out of water.

Amazing Dana rewarded Maddux Mapanao and Rylee Ramirez for their assistance with balloon creations he made onstage.

Preschool, toddler and pajama storytimes are weekly features at the library, and special programs for children, teens, adults and families are planned throughout the summer. It isn’t too late to register for the “One World, Many Stories” Summer Reading Club, open to all ages.

Ramona Library at 1275 Main St. is open Mondays through Saturdays. For a list of upcoming programs and more information, see, read Teresa Warner’s “Between the Bookends” in the Sentinel, visit the library or call 760-788-5270.
