Share

A masked man with a pistol robbed the Circle K convenience store in Ramona early this morning.

The thief, who appeared to be in his 20s, confronted a clerk at the Circle K at 704 Main St. in Ramona, displayed the gun and demanded cash about 1:45 a.m., sheriff’s Lt. Anthony Ray said.

The bandit fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The victim described the armed robber as a Hispanic male roughly 5-feet-7-inches tall, 180 pounds, with a mask over his face, and wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and a gray beanie, said Ray.

It was unclear what type of mask the bandit was wearing, according to Ray.

This is the sixth armed robbery in Ramona since July. Other businesses robbed have been Ransom Brothers Lumber & Supply, Los Rancheros taco shop, Diamond D Feed & Supply and Ramona Lisa Beer and Wine. Los Rancheros taco shop was robbed twice. In each case cash was taken, according to the sheriff’s department.

Authorities believe the same person was involved in the first five armed robberies. In four of those cases, the bandit had an accomplice. At this time, authorities do not believe the robbery at Circle K is connected to the others.
