Professional musician to entertain at historical society holiday potluck

Andy Stubbs, a professional musician and Ramona resident, will share his love of music with the Ramona Pioneer Historical Society at a Dec. 13 holiday celebration at 6:30 p.m. in the Barnett Barn on the grounds of the Guy B. Woodward Museum, 645 Main Street. His music will greet attendees as they arrive.

Stubbs’ musical career began when he started playing the violin. He is the recipient of many awards, including VOCE competition. VOCE is an acronym for Vocalists, Orchestral instrumentalists, Chamber music, Ensembles awards presented by the Music Teachers’ Association of California.

The youngest participant in the Strawberry Festival at Pepperdine University, Stubbs accepted a music scholarship to attend California State University Northridge, and while a student there was accepted at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute.

He attended the Arkansas Music Festival and the San Diego Symphony Young Artists’ program. He has given many solo violin concerts and is also an accomplished violist. His proficiency in cello brought him an invitation to be principal cello for the Palomar Symphony.

Guests are asked to bring a salad, main dish, for dessert for eight to share, and canned goods, which will be donated to the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet for those in need.
