Bicyclist rides into car

Share

A 23-year-old male bicycling with a group westbound on Walnut Street ran into a moving vehicle at the intersection of Davis Street around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Don Torrillo was transported to Palomar Medical Center by the Ramona Fire Department with an open fracture to his right ankle, said a CHP officer at the scene.

The male driver of a 2001 Honda Accord was southbound on Davis Street when Torrillo hit the driver’s side of the 2001 Honda Accord, the officer said.

The driver of the Accord said he heard the impact and stopped to check on the bicyclist. The driver, who declined to give his name, suffered some cuts possibly from the broken glass of his side window. He was not considered at fault by CHP.

Torrillo, who is staying at Restoration Ranch, was the lead bicyclist in a group of five from the ranch, said the CHP officer.
