Ramonans Jade Maginnis, Austin Hayes and Benjamin Dukes, and San Pasqual’s Macy Devenport were among the event winners at the California Junior Rodeo Association competition at Mountain Valley Ranch.

Maginnis had the top pee wee roping score, Hayes won his second consecutive junior calf tying competition, Dukes took first place as a team roping header, and Devenport won the senior pole bending event.

Maginnis also placed ninth in two events — pee wee pole bending and the pee wee goat tying — while placing 10th in pee wee barrel racing.

Dukes partnered with heeler Kiki Corona of Hemet to win the team roping. Ramona’s Jared Godes was the sixth-place heeler and teamed with Jessica Bates of Norco.

Devenport as the ribbon roper and Godes as the ribbon runner teamed for a fourth-place time in that event. Dukes placed sixth in ribbon roping while teaming with ribbon runner Rachael Asbell of Escondido.

Godes had the second-place time in the senior steer stopping event. Devenport placed eighth in senior barrel racing.

Ramona’s Alexis Awrey was fifth in the senior pole bending competition and 10th in the senior barrel racing event.
