RHS Sports Tryout, Registration Dates Set

The first day of Ramona High School fall sports tryouts is Aug. 15 for all sports except football. Football started on Aug. 9.

To participate in athletics, band, cheer, song or NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps), students must obtain a “Ticket to Play.”

Ticket to Play packets are available in the main office at RHS, 1401 Hanson Lane, Mondays through Fridays from 7 to 11:45 a.m. and from 1:15 to 3:30 p.m. They must be completed and turned in before a student can try out, practice or participate in athletics, band, cheer, song or NJROTC.

Ticket to Play packets contain permission for medical treatment, a physical card, transportation waiver, a signature page, resident eligibility form, Internet permission form (optional). Information on ethics in sports, anabolic steroids information, athletic and extracurricular policy against hazing and sexual discrimination and harassment, extracurricular agreement, participation waiver, eligibility standards, a sports medicine alert about MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus), and parent guide to communicating with coaches is also in the packet. Every sport will have a parent night mandated by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) after tryouts.

Other dates to note are: Senior parking stickers may be obtained on Aug. 16 from 8 to 11 a.m., junior parking stickers are available Aug. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m., RHS registration is Aug. 17 for seniors from 8 to 11 a.m.; juniors, 1 to 3 p.m.; sophomores, Aug. 18 from noon to 3 p.m.; and a nighttime registration from 4 to 7:30 on Aug. 18.

Football Family Day Scrimmage will be Saturday, Aug. 20, at 8 a.m.

The first day of school is Aug. 29.
