Softball loses to Oceanside, Mt. Carmel

The Bulldog softball team lost two games in the Valley League on their home diamond. The Dawgs lost to Oceanside High School and league leading Mt. Carmel, and are now 7-14 on the year and 1-3 in league action.

Ally Harvey got the start in the circle and went three and a third innings. She gave up four earned runs on six hits and struck out two. Kellsie Domnitz finished and went three and two thirds innings. Domnitz gave up one run on five hits and fanned four.

Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the third, Ramona mounted its first rally. KK Melgoza stroked a one out single. With two gone, Lexi Slater ripped an RBI triple.

Oceanside scored three runs in the top of the fourth to go ahead 7-1. Ramona then launched its second rally. Tory Roberts led off the frame with a double. Cassie Ford drew a base on balls. Julie Ward then stroked an RBI single to score Roberts. Domnitz singled to score Ford and Ward advanced to second. Allie Ferguson delivered an RBI single. A double play and a put out ended the frame and rally.

Mt. Carmel built a nine-run lead before the Lady Bulldogs’ bats came alive. The Sundevils started the game with a five-run first inning rally in which they hit two home runs.

Ramona launched a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ford led off the inning with a single. With one down Domnitz was hit by a pitch. Ward singled. Melgoza delivered an RBI single and Domnitz scored on an error.

Kim Whelehon drew a base on balls. With two down, Courtney Fick delivered her second hit of the game, a two run double, to end the scoring.

Domnitz pitched the entire game and took the loss.

Tory Roberts led off the frame with a double. Cassie ford drew a base on balls. Julie Ward then stroked an RBI single to score Roberts to make it a 4-1 game.
