Song team earns 2 top awards in national dance competition

The Ramona High School Song Team returned from National Dance Alliance (NDA) competition in Orlando, Fla., with two top awards and two special awards.

The Ramona team won first place in the Small Varsity Team Performance Division in the NDA National Championship. Competition was held in Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios’ CityWalk on March 6 and 7.

The team also won second place in the Small Varsity Pom Division and received two Special Awards for Technical Excellence.

RHS Song competed against 15 teams from all over the country to win the Team Performance Division and competed against 22 teams in the Pom Division.

The team’s next competition will be the USA Dance Nationals Championship in Anaheim, Calif., on March 26 and 27.

Sarah McAllister, an RHS Class of 2004 alumnus, coaches the team. She is assisted by Raychel McAllister, who graduated from RHS in 2006.
