Ramona Transportation Summit responses from San Diego Association of Governments

Share

1) Should the long daily commute distances, and therefore fuel consumption related taxes, play a role in the positioning of our back community needs?

Commuting distances are not taken into account in prioritizing the use of sales tax funds. However, the TransNet half-cent sales tax extension includes widening of SR 67 to 4 lanes from Mapleview Street to Dye Road.

2) At a previous gathering, someone from (perhaps) CalTrans made a statement that “The people of San Diego owed the state (for road construction) money.” Question: For what? We have been paying taxes, supposedly to fund roads along with other things.

We are not aware of any transportation funds that the region owes the state. We very much doubt such a circumstance exists.
