Showcasing hometown talent
The entertainment lineup for the Ramona Country Fair is non-stop. And it’s all Ramona.
When it was time to select the entertainment for the fair, Kenny Ogee of Ogee Productions talked with Jon Hasz of Ramona Music Center. While Ogee runs the stage and sound during the four-day fair, Hasz and Joanne Ueblacker, manager of Ogee Productions, will be coordinating the entertainers they booked for the summer celebration.
Opening ceremonies each day will feature Ramona Idol contestants who aren’t in the semifinals singing the national anthem. Thursday evening is reserved for Ramona Idol Semifinals and Saturday evening is Ramona Idol Finals. The rest of the weekend will feature an array of other local entertainment.
“There’s some serious musicians this year,” said Hasz. “Come be involved with a budding music scene.
“Be proud of what we have to offer—our local hometown artists.”
After opening ceremonies on Friday, international singer and recording artist Enedina Lammers, “La Rosa de Oro,” will be on stage, followed by Acoustic Coalition, acoustic country entertainer Travis Ross, ska group Sherm and, to end the evening, Broken Fingers, a band that performs alternative music.
The lineup Saturday afternoon before Ramona Idol Finals includes Mountain Tribal Gypsie belly dancers, Gin’s Vocal Group, Negative Zero alternative band, Arts Unlimited Kids Dance Group, DJ Music Dance Set by Kenny Ogee, and Ramona Martial Arts & Self Defense.
Ueblacker said that all of the music will be family friendly. Considering the Amber Dubois and Chelsea King tragedies, she asked Ramona Martial Arts owner Hans Hemkes to include a self-defense segment in his hourlong demonstration.
Acoustic singer/songwriter Alex Thomure will start the entertainment on Sunday, followed by Acoustic Coalition, folk pop singer Jordan Cruz, Jason Winters (alternative rock), Speaking Idly (acoustic jazz), Straight Trippin (ska), alternative rock from Henry & the Seacreatures, and Ogee Karaoke from 9 to 10 p.m.
“It showcases the best of the local bands,” Ueblacker said of the weekend entertainment roster.
