Elizabeth Hospice offers Winter Volunteer Training

Share

The Elizabeth Hospice seeks caring people to participate in the Winter Volunteer Training that will be held on three consecutive Saturdays—Feb. 6, 13, and 20—from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Elizabeth Hospice administrative office located at 150 W. Crest St. in Escondido.

The organization has patients in Ramona and needs volunteers.

Volunteer training is free and open to the public. Bilingual volunteers are needed. Professional staff at The Elizabeth Hospice teach the comprehensive training classes, addressing issues such as the volunteer role in hospice care, spiritual concerns in death, dying and grief, working with non-verbal patients, cultural diversity, complementary therapies and active listening.

Graduates of this volunteer training will serve hospice patients and their family members as well as the Transitions program for clients and their families.

To ensure a place in the volunteer training, contact a Regional Volunteer Liaison at 760-737-2050 no later than Jan. 29.

Another training will be offered in the spring.

The Elizabeth Hospice has a 30-year tradition as a provider of medical, emotional and spiritual support to the terminally ill and their families. Since opening its doors, The Elizabeth Hospice has provided services to more than 70,000 patients and families in northern San Diego County neighborhoods regardless of their ability to pay.
