The Bulldog wrestling team dominated Orange Glen in a Valley League match and coasted to a 55-18 win over the Patriots in the Dawg House.

Ray Lemon-Adams started the match in the 130 bout and pinned Brodie Barker in 2:37. Spaso Ilich beat Carlos Delgadillo by technical fall in the 135 bout and the Dawgs led 11-0 after two bouts.

Rickey Martinez (140) lost a decision to Luis Ruvalcaba. Jarod Widner pinned Adam Quick in 2:53 to add to the lead.

Brodie Chenowth recorded the fastest pin of the match in the 152-pound bout in 1:15 over Eli Perez and the Dawgs led 23-3.

Thomas Pacheco lost by fall to Jovan Rivera in the 160 bout. Devin Rhodes recorded the Bulldog’s fourth pin in 2:56 over Eduardo Rojas in the 171-pound bout to give the Dawgs a 29-9 lead. Colton Houlihan (189) lost by fall to Eddie Pietrenka.

Marshal Thrasher recorded the final pin of the match in the 215 battle in 2:15 over Alex Bautista.

Jacob Kaliskis lost a decision in the heavyweight bout to Glenn Flores and Orange Glen had its final points of the bout as they trailed the Dawgs 35-18.

Zach Lane and Isaiah Ilich both won by default. Max Hughes (119) and Connor Koch (125) finished the match by posting major decisions over Alex Gonzalez and Cesar Serrano to give the Dawgs their second victory in the Valley League as they improved to 2-1 in league action.

Coach Steve Koch coached the match on crutches after suffering a knee injury in practice on Wednesday.

“I wasn’t doing anything stupid like trying to wrestle with one of my athletes. I am smarter than that,” joked Koch. He was standing on the edge of the practice mat when a wrestler accidently rolled into Koch’s knee from behind.

“We wrestled well and with great energy and enthusiasm,” said Koch. “Some wrestlers had to move in and wrestle for the varsity and they all did well. We are young but we keep on improving. We are growing up in a hurry.”

The junior varsity beat Orange Glen 72-12. The Patriots had to forfeit eight bouts in the match. Brock Corbett (135), Bronson Walter (140), Andy burns (189) and Zach Berg (189) all recorded pins for the Dawgs.
