Ramona High School Class of 2009 graduate Trevor Rogelstad is performing the lead role of Joseph in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.
Rogelstad has been performing in various youth and community theater groups for the past 10 years, and those who have seen his portrayal of Joseph call it amazing. He is the son of Mark and Darlene Scott of Ramona and Todd and Kim Rogelstad of Poway.
The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to life in this musical parable. Joseph, his father’s favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. When news of Joseph’s gift to interpret dreams reaches the pharoah, who is depicted as Elvis, Joseph is well on his way to becoming second in command.
Rogelstad’s last performance as Joseph in the production will be staged at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, in the California Center for the Arts at 340 North Escondido Blvd. in Escondido.
