Ramona High’s wrestling team has been tearing up tournaments and, since a Valley League loss to Mt. Carmel, the Bulldogs have torn up the Valley League.

Valley Center was their latest dual meet victim, as the Dawgs beat the Jaguars 68-9. The Valley League match opened with Jarod Widner accepting a forfeit in the 145-pound bout. Brodie Chenowth (152) then beat Dillon Smith by recording a technical fall and the rout was on. Keelan Berg (160) returned from the injured reserve and beat Kirk Roberts 7-6, and the Dawgs led 14-0.

Devin Rhodes then recorded the first of four straight pins as he registered the fastest pin of the match in the 171-pound bout. He downed Pedro Flores in 40 seconds. Colton Houlihan then pinned Kyle Glenny in 1:22 in the 189 bout.

Marshal Thrasher won a forfeit in the 215 bout. Jacob Kaliskis pinned Travis Wedd in 4:39 and the Dawgs led 38-0.

Zach lost by fall to Juan Oros in the 103 match up as Valley Center avoided a shutout. Isaiah Ilich lost a decision to Christian Guererro in the 112 bout and then the Dawgs finished strongly.

Max Hughes (119) recorded a pin over Manny Boyle in 1:05. Connor Koch dominated the 125 pound bout before pinning Zach Dewey in 5:45. Ray Lemon-Adams received 6 points for a forfeit in the 130 bout.

Kirk Kaliszewski has found a home on the varsity at 140 pounds. K-10 pinned Ken Murphy in 1:15. Spaso Ilich finished the match in grand fashion for the Dawgs as he pinned Garrett Fisher in 1:24.

“We keep working and we keep getting better every week. Our young wrestlers are becoming veterans,” said coach Steve Koch.
