Ramona free throw champs to compete

Ramona’s Boys and Girls Club Chapter helped organize and plan for the Knights of Columbus’ Annual Free Throw Shooting Contest at Olive Peirce Middle School.

“Many of the league’s basketball players participated, making it a huge success,” said Bob Doucette, sports coordinator for the Ramona Boys and Girls Club. “Thanks to all of you who helped and participated.

Divisions were broken down into gender and age groups. The winners were:

• Boys 11—-J.T. Roulier

• Boys 12—Ben Stein

• Boys 13—Wyatt Scott

• Boys 14—Alex Stuber

• Girls 10—Natalie Seol

• Girls 11—Katrina Taylor

• Girls 12—Lauren Werhanowicz

• Girls 13—Morgan Wallace

Future levels of competition, culminating in a state championship, are scheduled. The next competition will be on Feb. 6 at Saint Michael’s Church Gym on Pomerado Road in Poway. Winners of local contests will compete for the North County District Championship.

The North County winners will advance to Saint Augustine High School for the San Diego County Championship. Those who are successful there will compete in Fresno for the opportunity to be state champions.

“Congratulations to all of the boys and girls who are our Ramona Champions 2010,” said Doucette.
