Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel donates pool tables to after-school programs

Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel has donated their Olhausen pool tables and accessories worth more than $3,000 to the Warner and Julian School Districts.

Once utilized at Santa Ysabel Casino as an amenity, the Olhausen tables were in good condition and will go to the high school after-school programs as a recreational activity students will be able to enjoy once their work is complete.

“In every community, students often have to find their own recreation activity and, at times, it is unsupervised,” said Johnny Hernandez, chairman of the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel. “Our children need to keep their minds from getting bored, and this will help. This is one way we can contribute to our local youth to help promote a fun and safe outlet.”

Santa Ysabel Casino and its Orchard Restaurant is at 21975 Highway 79 in a hilltop setting overlooking Lake Henshaw and Palomar Mountain. It is about a 20-minute drive from Ramona.
