Burglar awaits sentencing

Roy Daniel Scott, 29, of Ramona, will be sentenced May 5 in El Cajon Superior Court after pleading guilty to three burglary charges.

Deputy District Attorney Genaro Ramirez said Scott admitted to burglarizing a San Diego County public works office on Feb. 5, and a vehicle burglary two weeks later. Scott also pleaded guilty to commercial burglary of a building inside a mobile home park in Ramona.

Judge Charles Ervin dismissed other charges including several other burglaries, petty theft and vandalism after he pleaded guilty on April 2 to three charges. Scott was arrested Feb. 6 by sheriff’s deputies at 2 a.m. following an investigation.

Scott had been living at a sober living house in Ramona when deputies found stolen items in his room that were believed taken from businesses. He could be sentenced to prison, but probation has not been ruled out.

He remains at the South Bay Detention Facility in Chula Vista on $146,000 bail.
