The Ramona Bulldog golf team took on two tough non-league foes. The Dawgs beat Steele Canyon and dropped a close match to Francis Parker.

The Bulldogs are now 8-2 overall and are undefeated in the Valley League with a 6-0 record.

“Our depth really showed this week,” said Ramona coach Jerry Patenaude. “We had three athletes earn medalist honors. We still have some tough non-league matches ahead of us. We have Poway and Saints again and the Central Union Tournament to get us ready for the North County Championships and the CIF.”

Ramona beat Steele Canyon 195-201 at the friendly confines of San Vicente Resort. Four Ramona Bulldogs shot in the 30s in the match.

Christian Rajcic and Glen Zane shared the medalist honors as both Bulldogs turned in scores of 38 on the par 36 front nine. Brandon Barnum and Joe Fortunato both matched the score of Steele Canyon’s number one golfer by shooting a 39. Josh Haynes and Drew Massey both turned in scores of 40.

Ramona traveled to Riverwalk Golf Club and lost to Francis Parker 196-200. Massey earned medalist honors by shooting 37 on the par 36 front nine. Rajcic turned in a 39. Haynes and Zane both turned in scores of 41. Fortunato shot a 42 and Tyler Harvey shot a 43.
