Ramona High’s junior varsity football team beat Valhalla 21-14 to go into the Valley League with a 3-1 record.

Ramona played in all areas of the game. The offense employed a brutal ground attack as Sahne Barnes, Tyler Weaver-Villa and Trevor Dotson ran for over 250 yards behind the blocking of Preston Johnson, Luke Papps, Andrew Lizowski, Brandon Barnum, Nich Heimpil, Paul Loska and Nick Fitzpatrick.

Dotson alternated with Travis Stevens at quarterback and ran and passed from the shot gun for over 180 yards and one rushing TD. Barnes ran for a TD.

The defense scored the winning touchdown on an Eli Jauregui interception. Dotson also played well on defense as did Ben Sparks, Jacob Gallegos, Steve Rothermel and Jacob Sanders.

Special teams were the difference. Jeremiah Jordan kicked three PATs and Christian Glotfelty had a great punting game. Glotfelty pinned the Norsemen inside the ten yard line with five punts.

The frosh team lost to Valhalla 27-8. The frosh gave up one touchdown on a punt and fumbled inside their twenty to give up another score.

Javier Dominguez scored the lone Bullpup TD on a 19-yard pass from Hunter McHargue. Coach Ernst had praise for Daniel Kemp, Anthony Ehresman and Bronson Walter.

“We had sickness and injuries, and Daniel, Anthony and Bronson all had to play offense and defense,” said Ernst. “DJ Spiker also had a good game in his first start on defense. We gave up two easy scores and didn’t score from the 1 yard line, so the game was closer than the score indicated. We played hard and improved. We will continue to improve.”
