Lady golfers lose two matches

Ramona High’s girls golf team lost two matches in Valley League action, first to Westview High School at home at San Vicente Golf Resortand then to Ocean-side High School on the road.

The match with Westview was close, 264-266.

Ally Harvey paced the Lady Dawgs with a very respectable 48. Arielle Acosta of Westview won the medalist honors by beating Harvey by 2 strokes shooting a 46 on the par 36 front nine.

The difference in the match was the 47 turned in by Westview’s Charlotte Orren.

Kelsey Perry shot a 50, with every Ramona golfer shooting under 60. Emily Vandervort shot 54. Ashley Ramirez contributed a 56. Kellsie Domnitz shot 58, and Kammy Fitting shot a 59.

“It was a disappointing loss,” said Coach John Rathbun. “I felt that we could have taken this match on our home course.”

Rathbun, however, is pleased with the team’s work ethic.

Ramona lost to Oceanside 231-267 at Oceanside Municipal Golf Course. Harvey shot a 49 to lead Ramona. Oceanside had four golfers shoot 47 or lower on their home course.

Perry shot 51, Vandervort turned in a 54, Domnitz shot 56, Fitting shot 57, and Ramirez shot 68.

The Lady Dawgs are 1-2 in Valley League play.
