RHS tennis team beats Brawley, Valley Center

Ramona High School’s varsity tennis team beat Brawley in a non-league tilt and opened Valley League action with a win over Valley Center. The Lady Bulldogs are 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in league action.

Ramona’s doubles teams swept the Brawley Wildcats as the Lady Dawgs earned all nine doubles points. Ashley Shields and Dayna Lake went 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2.

Rachel Williams and Sami Marsch won three sets by going 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2. Rachel Vaca and Andrea Briseno went 6-2, 6-3 and 6-0.

In singles action Katie Hoffman went 4-6 and 6-0. Jordan went 2-6. Rebecca Romero won three sets with scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2. Jennica Castillo went 2-6, 6-1 and 4-6

Ramona continued to dominate in doubles play in their victory over Valley Center. Hoffman and Romero teamed up to win three sets by scores of 6-0,6-0 and 6-0. Shields and Lake were almost perfect by going 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0. Williams and Marsch went 6-1, 6-0 and 6-3.

In singles play Rachel Vaca went 1-6 and 6-2. Andrea Briseno went 0-6, 0-6 and 6-3. Jennica Castillo posted scores of 0-6,0-6 and 4-6. Jordan McWhorter went 0-6.

The junior varsity beat Brawley 17-1 and Valley Center 18-0. Amy Jordan and Laura Meng won six sets in the two matches in singles action. Amy Mazzola and Ali Gerber won three sets each in singles action.

Savanna Goodson and Nikki Rogers won six team points. Amy Mazzola and Abigail Ward also won points against Valley Center. Geber and Ward won three sets against Brawley. Taylor Romero and Laura Callan won four sets. Nicole Mulligan teamed up with Romero and Callan to win 2 points.
