Fallbrook defeats Ramona in tennis

Ramona High School’s girls tennis team lost one game to Mother Nature and lost a non-league match to Fallbrook in the opening week of the tennis season.

Thunder and lightning forced a cancelation of Ramona’s match against Mission Hills.

Fallbrook defeated the Lady Dawgs 14-4. Ramona’s doubles teams scored all four of the team’s points.

Senior Ashley Shields and Freshman Dayna Lake teamed up to post scores of 1-6, 6-2 and 6-4. Rachel Williams and Sami Marsch went 0-6, 6-1 and 0-6. Rachel Vaca and Andrea Briseno posted scores of 0-6, 6-2 and 3-6.

Katie Hoffman went 0-6, 0-6 and 0-6. Rebeca Romero went 0-6, 0-6 and0-6. Jennica Castillo also went 0-6, 0-6 and 0-6.

The junior varsity beat Mission Hills 16-2. Amy Jordan, Laura Meng and Ali Geber each won three sets. Amy Mazzola and Abigail Ward won 3 team points in doubles action, and Savannah Goodson and Nikki Rogers and Laura Callan and Taylor Romero won two sets in the match.

The junior varsity lost to Fallbrook 7-11. Ali Geber won one set in singles play. Mazzola and Ward won three sets in doubles action. Goodson and Rogers won two sets and Callan and Taylor Romero on one set.
