Coach Bliss starts middle school girls lacrosse team

Share

Jim Bliss, Ramona High School girls lacrosse coach, has announced plans to form a middle school girls lacrosse team for the fall season, giving middle school girls a chance to be introduced to the fastest growing sport in the country.

“Lacrosse combines the best and most exciting elements of basketball and soccer, and emphasizes speed, agility, hand-eye coordination and teamwork,” said Bliss.

After some skill introduction and practice sessions, the team will play a schedule of games against middle school teams from La Jolla, Valley Center , Poway and other San Diego communities on Saturdays.

“Lacrosse is our newest girls sport at RHS; we played a full schedule last year and were very successful, particularly with the younger girls at the junior varsity level where we had six wins in our first season,” said Bliss. “The skills are relatively easy to pick up and the future is bright for the middle school kids coming up as the program grows.

“We are looking for girls who perhaps have not played sports or athletes like soccer or basketball players who would like to try a new sport. We are very excited to introduce our game to the next generation.”
