Gallery marks centennials

Julian Art Gallery marks two centennials in its special exhibit this month: The California Art Club’s 100th year and Julian’s 100th Apple Days celebration.

The exhibit, “Julian and the San Diego Back Country: A Centennial Exhibition of the California Art Club,” represents the beautiful scenery of Julian and its surrounding regions with works of art by California Art Club San Diego and Orange County Chapter members.

The juried exhibition is from Nov. 7 through 29, with an artists’ reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. The public is encouraged to attend.

The California Art Club, established in 1909 by early California Impressionists, or plein air painters, is recognized as one of the oldest, largest and most active professional art organizations in the world. Julian Art Gallery, located at A Rose Path at 2229 Main St., next to the Julian Pie Company, was founded in 2007 to help promote the art and artists of Julian and the greater San Diego County area. It is open Friday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
