Coaches can’t say enough about the heart of the Dawg Pack team. With 12 players out due to injury and the flu, the boys faced a tough loss to the Temecula team, 36-12, on Saturday in Temecula.

Already down three scores, the Dawg Pack just wouldn’t give up as Tyler Vargas made a spectacular 35-yard run into the end zone for the team’s first score.

The team’s second score was set up when Keyno Chrichlow took the hand-off for a punishing 36-yard run. Quarterback Garrett Binkley carried the ball into the end zone. Both point after attempts failed.

With the team stretched thin, many players were called on to play on both sides of the ball and outside their normal positions. The running game of the Dawgs was carried by Adam Parades, Troy Jordan and Jeffry Guthrie.

The defense stepped up the pressure with an interception by Ben Stein, and special teams play kept Temecula on its toes with Garrett Binkley recovering a fumble on a punt and Keyno Chrichlow denying a point after attempt by Temecula with an interception in the end zone.

The good news came on Sunday when the Pee Wee cheerleaders won second place in the cheer competition, giving them a spot in the finals.

“We’re proud and very happy for these outstanding young women who have done a great job cheering on our team all season,” said Coach Paul Michaelis.
