Golf drops 2 matches

The Lady Bulldog golf team played two matches at the friendly confines of San Vicente Resort in Valley League action, losing to Oceanside 252-277 and then improving their score by 22 strokes on a loss to Mt. Carmel.

In the contest with Oceanside, Ally Harvey turned in Ramona’s low score for the second consecutive match by shooting a 50. Hannah Durette of Oceanside was medalist with a 42.

Emily Vandervort continues to play steady golf as she shot a 53. Kammy Fitting shot 54. Ashley Ramirez also shot in the fifties by turning in a 59. Catie Sundberg shot 61. Kellsie Domnitz shot a 54, but was disqualified on a technicality.

The Lady Bulldogs showed great improvement in a 233-250 loss to Mt. Carmel. Domnitz turned in the low score of 46. Harvey and Ramirez both turned in scores of 48.

Vandervort shot 51. Sundberg recorded a 57. Kia Turner’s 64 was not counted in team scoring.

Shelby Jones and Tracey Huynh shared the medalist honors by posting scores of 39.

When asked about the team’s recent improvement, Harvey, a sophomore, said, “We have been working on being more focused in practice and it has carried over to the matches. We are having fun and we all get along well as a team.”

Harvey has been creeping up the leader board in recent matches and is a two-sport letter winner.
