Advisory group schedules hearing to discuss public transit needs

Social Services Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC), an advisory group to the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), will hold a public hearing in downtown San Diego with a videoconference in Oceanside on Monday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. SSTAC includes 13 members representing social service agencies, individuals, transportation providers and the Consolidated Transportation Services Agency. The California Public Utilities Code requires SSTAC to hold at least one public hearing a year to solicit comments from transit dependent disadvantaged persons, including seniors, persons with disabilities and persons of limited means.

SSTAC will hold the hearing this year in SANDAG Conference Room 8B at 401 B St. in San Diego.Videoconferencing will be in the North County Transit District Videoconference Meeting Room at 810 Mission Ave., on the second floor. Attendees will hear a brief presentation on the Public Transit and Social Services Transportation Plan (coordinated plan) for San Diego County. The coordinated plan is being updated by SANDAG and includes strategies to better coordinate public transit to helps SANDAG determine how future grants for human service transportation should be awarded. Individuals attending the hearing are encouraged to comment about the new plan, potential human service transportation improvements or to raise other issues pertinent to transportation needs of seniors, persons with disabilities, and low-income individuals.
