2010 Miss Rodeo California

Markie Battaglia, center, 21, of Ramona was crowned 2010 Miss Rodeo California in Paso Robles on Thursday, Oct. 8, after a three-day competition. With her are 2nd Runnerup Blair Smittcamp, left, Miss Rodeo Salinas, and 3rd Runnerup Shannon Walker, Miss Rodeo Bakersfield. First runnerup was Mackenzie Cayford, Miss Lakeside. Battaglia, daughter of Joyce Battaglia of Ramona, swept the competition, also earning Miss Photogenic, Miss Horsemanship, Miss Appearance and Miss Personality, and the Speech category. A senior at Arizona State University, she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in Spanish. An avid team roper and barrel racer, she grew up in junior rodeo and high school rodeo, and she has held numerous rodeo titles, including 2004 Miss California High School Rodeo. Among her first official appearances was participating in the Pioneer Day Parade in Paso Robles with 2009 Miss Rodeo California Ashley Hoffmann.
