Tennis team sweeps Orange Glen

The Lady Bulldog tennis team beat Orange Glen 18-0 in a Valley League match. The Lady Dawgs are now 4-5 on the season and are 3-3 in the Valley League.

In singles action Rebeca Romero recorded scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0 while manning the number one spot in the lineup. Dayna Lake turned in scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0. Jennica Castillo picked up three team points by going 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0.

The doubles teams also won all nine sets against the Patriots. Katie Hoffman and Ashley Shields swept their competition with perfect scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0. Sami Marsch and Rachel Williams went 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0. Andrea Briseno and Rachel Vaca took three team points with scores of 7-5, 6-0 and 6-0.

Coach Ken Scheib’s junior varsity team beat Orange Glen 16-2 in a Valley League match and lost to Del Norte 15-3 in a non-league match.

In the Orange Glen match, Ramona took all nine singles points as Amy Jordan, Laura Meng and Ali Geber all won in straight sets.Jordan went a perfect 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0.

Amy Mazzola and Abigail Ward won three sets going 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1. Nikki Rogers and Laura Callan took three points with scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0. Taylor Romero and Nicole Mulligan won a team point with a score of 6-0.

In the Del Norte match, Taylor Romero won one set in singles play. Amy Mazzola and Abigal Ward also earned a team point in doubles action as did Laura Callan and Nicole Mulligan.
