Tennis advances to individual tourneys

The Bulldog tennis squad ended team play for the season with a trip to the CIF Division Playoffs. The Dawgs beat University High School and lost to Valley League foe Mt Carmel.

The Dawgs finished the season with a 7-11 record. The tennis team will now advance to the Valley League Individual Tournament and the CIF Individual Tournament

Ramona High School’s tennis team opened the first round of Division II CIF play by beating University City High School 12-6.

Josh Leiber had a big day as he won three sets from his number one singles spot. Leiber turned in scores of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-0.

Cameron Ruland went 1-6, 4-6 and 6-3. Tyler Davidson picked up two big team points by registering scores of 2-6, 6-3 and 6-1.

John Shupe and Tyler McDonald won three sets in doubles action by posting scores of 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2.

Derek Streeter and John Randol went 4-6, 4-6 and 6-0. Alejandro Cervantes and Garrett Flynn won two team points by going 0-6, 7-5 and 6-1.

Ramona traveled to Mt. Carmel for the 11-7loss to the Sundevils in the quarterfinals of the CIF team playoffs.

Leiber manned the number one singles spot and went 0-6, 6-4 and 6-1. Ruland posted scores of 1-6, 6-2 and 3-6.

Davidson picked up two team points by going 1-6, 6-4 and 6-3.

Streeter and Randol won two sets in doubles action by going. 4-6, 6-3 and 7-5. Shupe and McDonald went 4-6, 4-6 and 4-6. Flynn and Cervantes went 2-6, 6-7 and 2-6.
