Rainbow Riders thrill audiences

The award-winning Rainbow Riders precision drill team has been thrilling audiences throughout the West Coast since 1986.

The Ramona-based drill team will perform heart-stopping, fast-paced and intricate maneuvers at each Ramona Rodeo show.

Originally endorsed by rodeo legend Casey Tibbs, the riders have the endorsement of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association stock contractors and are referred to as the “Blue Angels on horseback.” They perform high-speed drills with extremely dangerous maneuvers and made their movie debut in television’s Horses and Champions in 1996.

They’ve been the top performing drill team for three years at the Western States Drill Team Competition in Reno, Nev., and are regulars at rodeos throughout Southern California, Nevada and Arizona.

The Rainbow Riders team has been on the cover of Riding Magazine and featured in articles in Horse Illustrated and other magazines. The team is made up of women of all ages who come from all walks of life.

Capt. Dottie Pierce of Ramona and the Rainbow Riders have been in parades and filled many arenas with the excitement of fast horses, tight crosses and a swirl of rainbow colors during rodeos, equestrian events and a variety of fundraisers.
