Golfers swing for first in league

Ramona High’s road trip to River Walk Golf Club was more like a walk in the park as the Dawgs beat Francis Parker 188-202 on the par 36 front nine.

Josh Haynes and Andrew Massey shared the medalist honors after both golfers shot a one under par 35. Brian Moberg shot an even par 36. Christian Rajcic shot 40. Garrett Arnold recorded a 43. Jake Lohman shot a 54.

Ramona beat San Marcos at Lake San Marcos Country Club 208-227 in a Valley League match.

Haynes and Massey shared the medalists honors. Both Bulldogs shot 39 on the par 35 front nine. Garrett Arnold and Glendon Barnum both shot 43. Moberg fired a 44. Jake Lohman recorded a 54. No Knight golfer shot better than a 44.

The Bulldogs finished in third place in the St Augustine/Sycuan Invitational Tournament. Torrey Pines shot 1240 to take first. St. Augustine took second place shooting 1276. Ramona shot 1291. The Bulldogs beat perennial golf powers Francis Parker, Cathedral Catholic, Coronado and Mater Dei.

Moberg shot a 150 in two days of play, only five strokes off the winner, to finish fourth overall as an individual. He shot a 74 on day one and a 76 on day two.

Massey (76 and 78), Johnny Lafata (79 and 78), Haynes (79 and 79), Rajcic (79 and 84), Glendon Barnum (81 and 80), Arnold (86 and 82), Tyler Harvey (92 and 88) and Lohman (101 and 106) also contributed to the Bulldog’s success in the tourney.

The Bulldogs are 5-0 in dual matches and are in first place in the Valley League with a 2-0 record.
