The Ramona Bulldogs beat Calexico 8-6 in the final game of the Foothiller/Aztec Tournament at Rocky Lawler Field. The Dawgs are now 3-2 on the season.

“I was very pleased with our play against Calexico,” said Coach Dean Welch. “Alex Muren looked very good on the mound.

“He is making progress every time he takes the mound. Blake Drake had a great day at the plate going three for four with a triple. James Nicholson was impressive (Nicholson hit his second home run of the season.).”

Welch was not pleased with the three errors, but is confident that, with work, the errors will be cut down.

Muren picked up the win by going four innings. The senior right-hander surrendered two hits and only gave up one run. He struck out six. Cody Willingham finished the game for the Bulldogs. He only gave up one earned run.

Smiley Willeford and Muren both went 2-for-4 at the plate. Michael Studley, Jackson Willeford, Ian Hunt and Brady Wilson also contributed hits to the cause. Hunt (2), Nicholson (2) and Wilson (1) drove in runs for the Dawgs.
