The Lady Bulldog softball team has a plethora of returning letter winners and five all Valley League selections returning for the 2009 season.

Coach Mike Schuler lists six seniors on his roster. Kristen Tenwolde returns as an All Valley League pitcher. Ashley Brean, All Valley League outfielder last season, will return for her fourth year on the varsity.

Stephanie Kiesel will move from first base to third base this season. She was an all Valley League selection last season.

Alexa Paredes will play outfield. Kelly deGraff will pitch as will Marti Sanchez. Sanchez is on the injured list.

Four juniors are listed on the 2009 roster. Courtney Fick will be the catcher. She was an all Valley League selection last season.

Tory Roberts returns at second base. She earned all league honors there last season. Allie Ferguson returns as an outfielder. Hillary Roloff is a returner that will vie for the job at first base.

Four sophomores made the 2009 roster. Lexi Slater was all Valley League first team last season at shortstop. Cassie Ford returns and will vie for the job at first base.

Kellsis Domnitz is a returning letter winner and will pitch and play outfield. Angelina Uriostegui is up from the junior varsity and is listed as a catcher.

Two ninth-graders made the squad. Ally Harvey is a pitcher/outfielder and Karissa Melgoza is an outfielder.

Coach Schuler has four pitchers who have seen varsity action and 13 players who have played varsity softball so this is a veteran squad.

Two of the three additions to the Valley League, Westview and Mt. Carmel, are softball powers, so the league will be tough from top to bottom. Schuler believes that his team is in the hunt for the title.

The Lady Dawgs are playing El Camino tonight and Mira Mesa tomorrow in the Cougar Classic at 7 p.m. in Kit Carson Park on field number four.
