Nine cagers earn All Valley League recognition

Four members of Ramona High School’s varsity boys basketball team and five players on the varsity girls team earned All Valley League recognition.

Dodge McIntosh was named to the first team by the league’s coaches. The 6-foot senior led the Bulldogs with 506 points, averaging 18.7 points a game, despite facing special defenses most of the season.

McIntosh also led the team in three-point goals and hit 86 shots from beyond the arch.

Cameron Kolk was named second team All Valley League. The 6’2” senior led the Bulldogs with a staggering 272 rebounds, averaging 10 per game. Kolk also led the Dawgs in blocked shots with 26 rejections on the season, and he contributed to the offensive cause by averaging nine points a game.

Juniors Andrew Alcaraz and Keith Scheib received honorable mention. Alcaraz averaged 12 points a game and sank 55 three-point goals. He led the team with 83 assists. Scheib averaged 4.4 points a game and dished out 77 assists.

On the girls basketball team, senior Janet Nasman was selected to the first team. She led the team in scoring, averaging 12.5 points an outing, and she also led the team in rebounding.

Kellie Schoepp earned a berth on the second team. The junior forward averaged 9.7 points a game and was also a presence in the paint on both ends of the court.

Seniors Kathryn Owens, Chelsea Maurer and Linze Cole received honorable mention. Owens averaged 10 points a game. Maurer played a well-rounded game .She rebounded, dished off assists and played defense while averaging eight points a game. Cole led the team in three point goals. She hit 40 of the team’s 64 three-points shots and also played well on defense.
