A 34-year-old transient was killed at 2:30 a.m. yesterday when he attempted to cross Main Street in downtown Ramona directly in front of a westbound 2000 International tractor-trailer, officials report.

“The driver never had the chance to react,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Pennings of the 40-year-old Morena Valley man driving the semi-truck.

The medical examiner’s office identified the man who was killed as Jens Roger Noet, an apparent transient who frequented Ramona. He suffered multiple blunt force injuries. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The accident occurred between Fifth and Sixth streets.
