The cause of a quarter-acre brush fire this morning off Highland Valley Road near Salida del Sol is undetermined and being investigated, CalFire Capt. Cesar Nerey at the Mount Woodson Fire Station said this afternoon.

The full wildland dispatch called for was canceled when firefighters from the Mount Woodson station arrived and contained the blaze with one engine, Nerey said. Firefighters remained at the scene for a couple of hours checking for hot spots. The fire started was reported at 10:50 a.m.

CalFire reported there have been lightning strikes throughout the North County, with rainfall. While many fires have been reported, no fires have been located, Roxanne Provaznik with CalFire said, adding that Cal Fire’s air tactics lane has done a lightning recon flight with no additional smokes located.
