The Lady Bulldog softball team ended the regular season with a big victory on Senior Day.

The Lady Dawgs ended the regular season with a 9-13 record. They finished tied for fourth place in the Valley League with a 5-7 record.

Most Senior Days are emotional but Ramona’s season finale was special. Kristen Tenwolde made her first appearance of the season. Kristen entered the season as one of the top rated pitchers in the Valley League but she suffered an apparent season ending injury the day before the season opener.

Kristen suffered a knee injury that required surgery. Kristen went through intensive rehabilitation and worked hard to return. Despite setbacks, Kristen took the circle and faced the first Oceanside hitter. The Lady Pirate took a strike and Kristen was replaced by senior Marti Sanchez.

Marti, too, had to battle back from a debilitating injury. Last season Marti and Kristen shared the pitching duties. For most of this season, they had to watch and cheer for their heatthy replacements.

It is apropos that Marti picked up the win on Senior Day. She went five innings and gave up three runs on five hits and struck out three. Freshman Brooke Brean pitched the final two innings.

Lexi Slater paced Ramona’s 11-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Cassie Ford had a 2-for-3 day with an RBI. KK Melgoza had two hits with a double and an RBI.

Ashley Brean had a two-RBI single. Stephanie Kiesel drove in two runs with a base hit.

Senior Alexa Paredes made the most of her start with an RBI single. Hillary Roloff had a two-run double.

On Tuesday the Lady Dawgs traveled to Westview and dropped an 8-4 decision. The Wolverines were in a battle with Mt. Carmel for first place and the Lady Dawgs took an early 4-2 lead on the Wolverines’ home diamond.

Ally Harvey started the Ramona on the mound and went the first four frames. Harvey gave up four runs on eight hits as she struck out one. Marti Sanchez pitched two innings in relief and took the loss. She gave up four runs on five hits.

Lexi Slater had a 3-for-4 outing at the plate with a double and two RBI. Cassie Ford went 2-for-3 with a triple. Stephanie Kiesel had two hits in three trips with a triple. Tory Roberts had an RBI single.
