Tessa Balcom is a very busy young student/athlete during the school year.

Tessa runs cross country during the fall, plays basketball during the winter and runs track in the spring, and she keeps a B average in her classes.

Basketball is her favorite sport. Her mom, Sandy, and dad, Mario, were cross country and track stars at Ramona High School and run with her on occasion.

When asked if the runs ever evolve into competitions, Tessa replied, “No we just run and work out.” Running is a family bonding exercise for the Balcoms.

Tessa has lettered in track and cross county for three seasons. She earned a varsity letter in basketball last season.

Her schedule is almost as busy. Tessa plays in a summer basketball league for the Lady Bulldogs. The team plays in tournaments. She keeps in shape for cross country and track by running at least five days a week.

Tessa also conditions at her parents business in Ramona, GetFit, by lifting weights and stretching three or four times a week. Tessa sort of double dips at GetFit. She is also an employee.

Tessa keeps her mind in shape by reading during the summer.

To relax, Tessa likes to go to the beach where she has been known to do some more running along with water sports and just hanging out with her friends.

She will incorporate her water sport skills on her vacation to Lake Tahoe. The trip will be a family outing as they move her sister, Brittany, to Chico State University for classes in the fall. Guess what? Brittany will be running cross country at Chico State.

Tessa plans to stay closer to home for college. She is deciding between Point Loma Nazarene University and a college that offers fashion merchandizing. She would like to participate in athletics in college. She would like a career in the field of fashion merchandizing. She mentioned that she could give me a little help with my choice of fashions.

Since Mario and Sandy employ coach Tessa and go to all of her games and meets, she thinks that qualifies as excellent parental support.

Tessa is a very busy young lady who knows how to manage her time and her times.
