Girls end summer basketball season

The Lady Bulldog summer basketball team lost its final league game 43-41 to Valley League foe Mt. Carmel.

Kellie Schoepp led all scorers with 12 points. Paige Conroy (5), Tori Sheppard (2), Kim Whelehon (1) Jess Beam (2), Christi Flores (2), Felisha Stead, RaeAnn ValTol (4) and Morgan Gross (7) also scored for the Lady Dawgs.

Ramona finished its summer schedule by going 3 and 3 in the San Diego summer Classic.

The girls opened with a 30-16 win over Douglas County of Colorado. Tessa Balcom scored 11 points and Conroy added 10 points.

Ramona lost to Drake but bounced back to beat El Capitan 38-22. Schoepp led all scorers with 9 points. Sheppard added 8 points and Gross scored 6.

Ramona then lost a tough battle 49-43 to Foothill High School of Los Angeles. Kayla Lawler led the Lady Dawgs with 9 points. Balcom and Sheppard contributed 8 points apiece.

Ramona then beat Ganesha of the Southern Section 44-42. Schoepp led all scorers with 13 points.

The team finished the summer with a 42-36 loss to perennial power South Torrance. Schoepp led Ramona with 11 points.

The tournament ended the Dan Marshall era as head basketball coach of the Lady Bulldogs.
