Summer Passing League

Share

Ramona hosted Santa Fe Christian High School in summer passing league football and lost to the Eagles 20-13. The game was played using the rules that will be used in the North County Passing League Tournament and are close to regular football. The teams traded positions.

Ramona High’s Erik Ernst opened the game with a hot hand and hit on five of six passes in the opening possession. Ernst connected with Greg Harrington for a touchdown. The PAT attempt failed and the Dawgs led 6-0.

The defense held on the first two Eagle possessions but allowed SFC to drive for a score on their third try. The Eagles converted the PAT and took a lead that they would not relinquish as they scored on their next possession to take a 14-6 advantage.

Ernst led a late drive going six for seven and hit Logan Peterson for a score. Ernst then hit Bryson Garcia for the PAT and the Dawgs trailed 14-13.

The Eagles iced the game on their last possession by driving for a score.

Ernst finished the day hitting on 12 of 18 throws. Rocco Hemphill hit on three of nine attempts. Nathan Hunt went eight for 17.

Seth Drake and Trevor Kerchner played well on defense for the Dawgs.

Last Thursday, the Dawgs hosted Rancho Buena Vista and El Centro. El Centro was happy to get out of the desert where it was 116 degrees.

Since there were three teams, the format changed (It does every time). Each team took turns going 10 plays with the ball, then 10 plays on defense and then out.

Ernst went 14 of 26. He threw touchdown passes to Evan Bray for 60 yards and hit Kwayde Miller with a 22 yard scoring toss. He threw one interception.

Nathan Hunt went seven for 14 and one TD.

Hemphill went 6 for 10. He hit Seth Drake with a 10-yard TD. He had one pass intercepted.

Marcos Ledesma made the Bulldog’s only interception.
