Ramona Sentinel’s

publisher, Jeff Mitchell.

Mitchell, who will remain publisher of the

Ramona Sentinel, Sentinel Magazine

and

Ramona Lifestyles

, took over as publisher of the

Poway News Chieftain

, the

Rancho Bernardo News Journal

and

Rancho Magazine

on July 9. MainStreet Media Group LLC owns the six publications.

Brendan Ruff, publisher of the three Poway and Rancho Bernardo publications since MainStreet purchased them 18 months ago, is the company’s new general manager. He will focus on newspaper and Internet advertising sales opportunities within the communities served by the Ramona, Rancho Bernardo and Poway newspapers.

The management realignment reflects MainStreet’s desires to enhance advertising and marketing opportunities within inland North County and to “put the best people in the best places,” said President and CEO Anthony A. Allegretti.

Mitchell, 56, has been publisher in Ramona for the past 18 months. He has increased revenue in the past year by over 18 percent and launched a new Web site for the newspaper.

Mitchell’s advertising and sales career includes positions as director of sales for a Monterey, Calif., radio group and five years as director of sales at the

Santa Cruz Sentinel

  1. Prior to that, he spent 18 years as creative director and principal of JMA Advertising in the Salinas/Monterey area.

Mitchell and his wife, Anna, have two children, ages 23 and 30.
