The Bulldog basketball team is playing in a summer league at Hoover High School and is preparing for a tournament at Eastlake High School and the summer playoffs.

“Our post players have not been playing in the summer program, so we have adjusted our game,” said Coach Ken Scheib. “We were not having much success playing half court defense, so we started to press and we have been much more competitive.

“In our last two games we have recorded a win and we lost in the last second on a desperation shot from behind the half court line in the final second. We beat Steele Canyon and lost to Lincoln. Both teams went deep into the playoffs. Lincoln played in the finals in their division.

“We don’t even keep stats during the summer. We just go out and play and have fun and see who wants to improve and play. We only have eight players at most of our games so everybody gets plenty of playing time.”

The summer roster has been filled by Keith Scheib, Andrew Alcaraz, Josh Leiber, Zack Windes, Jarrod Engler, Quinton Wright Jake Wolf and Sean Leahy.

Several Bulldogs are playing on travel teams and are attending summer basketball camps.
