Ramona High School’s athletic program finished in the top half of the North County Conference (NCC) in athletics in the 2008-2009 school year. Only league games, matches and meets are used in the calculations.

With a .493 (103-106-2) winning percentage in league action, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs finished eighth overall in the NCC.

Four of the top eight teams were from the very competitive Valley League. Torrey Pines had the best percentage, .857. Valley League foe Mt. Carmel was second best with a .750 average.

The Bulldogs had a winning record in boys sports. They were 59-49-1 in Valley League action, good for eighth out of 19 NCC schools.

The Lady Bulldogs compiled a 44-57-1 record in league play for a .436 percentage. They finished 11th out of 19 schools.

“We added a new sport and had the most student/athletes competing ever competing in our sports program,” said RHS Athletic Director Damon Baldwin. “Even in these tough times we have good numbers and we are competitive. Our student/athletes and coaches are doing a great job. Our coaches should be complemented on how well they share facilities.

“We could not have the athletic program we have without the support of the community. San Vicente Resort keeps our golf teams alive not only with the facilities but they provide us with great coaches. Riviera Oaks Resort does the same for tennis. They allow us to use the facilities and they provide an excellent coach.

“Without Olive Peirce Middle School and the adult softball program, we could not have a complete softball and baseball program.

“Our coaches do the most with the limited facilities we have. They also fund-raise above and beyond the call of duty.”
